From Reactive to Proactive How Our AI Reports Are Transforming Operations — A Conversation with Co-Founder Roberto
In today’s fast-moving foodservice and hospitality sectors, data is everywhere — but turning it into something useful is often the real challenge.
To better understand how our latest AI-driven reporting tools are changing the way our customers manage compliance, detect risks, and streamline their operations, we sat down with our own Roberto Maggiora, Co-Founder and Product Director here at Hawk Safety.
Q: We recently launched a new AI-powered reporting system. What’s the big idea behind it?
Roberto:
At its core, the idea is simple: our customers already generate a huge amount of operational data — from temperature sensors, staff checklists, supplier records, and more. But a lot of that information stays siloed or hidden in spreadsheets.
What we’ve done is create a system that brings all that data together and automatically turns it into clear, actionable insight. It empowers managers to spot trends, detect risks early, and make smarter decisions — all without needing to dig through reports or crunch numbers manually.
Q: What makes these reports different from traditional dashboards or monitoring tools?
Roberto:
A lot of traditional tools are passive — they record data and maybe display some charts. Our system is proactive. It’s continuously analyzing your data, flagging anomalies and patterns in real time.
For example, if a fridge has a pattern of temperature spikes overnight, or if a team is consistently missing a critical check, the system highlights that straight away. It’s like having an intelligent assistant keeping an eye on your operations 24/7.
Q: What kinds of insights can users expect from the system?
Roberto:
We’ve focused on making the insights both deep and practical, starting with temperature monitoring, and then expanding into checks, workflows, and product usage.
Temperature Insights – We go well beyond simple logs. The system highlights recurring peaks, flags unexpected temperature drops or spikes, and even identifies equipment that might be underperforming. This helps teams spot problems before they become failures, whether it’s a fridge door left open or a compressor on its last legs.
Workflow & Check Analysis – You can instantly see how reliably checks are being completed across teams and shifts. It shows who’s doing what, where gaps in compliance exist, and even if there are consistent patterns in missed tasks or late submissions.
Anomaly Detection – The AI automatically surfaces unusual events — from temperature anomalies to out-of-hours usage — helping managers address issues early, without needing to manually sift through data.
Supplier & Product Trends – The system also reveals which suppliers are most used, how their performance changes over time, and whether certain ingredients or prep steps are introducing risk. That kind of visibility is powerful for both procurement and quality control.
Ultimately, it’s about giving managers real-time insight across operations — helping them move faster and make better-informed decisions.
Q: Is this just for big chains, or can smaller businesses benefit too?
Roberto:
Definitely both. We designed it to scale — whether you’re running a single site or a multi-location operation.
Smaller teams love it because they don’t have to waste time pulling reports or double-checking logs. Bigger organisations benefit from being able to compare performance across sites and standardise compliance practices.
Q: What kind of results have customers seen so far?
Roberto:
We’ve had customers catch failing equipment before it caused any disruption, restructure supplier relationships based on performance data, and dramatically improve their audit readiness.
But what excites me most is how it shifts the mindset — from reacting to problems after they happen, to proactively managing operations with data at their fingertips.
Q: What’s next for our reporting features?
Roberto:
We’re continuing to enhance our anomaly detection models and building more granular alerting tools, so teams can act even faster when something’s off.
We’re also looking at integrations with procurement, scheduling, and other external systems — so our customers can get a 360° view of operational efficiency in one place.
