Is the Ethernet Hub the Right Choice for You?

Our standard Wi-Fi Hub is the best option for most customers.

It’s quick to install, flexible in where it can be positioned, and works well in the majority of environments.
The Ethernet Hub is simply an alternative for sites where a wired connection may be more suitable.

You might consider choosing it if:

  • Your IT policy prefers wired connections
Some organisations — especially hospitals, laboratories, and large corporates — restrict or tightly control WiFi-connected devices. In these cases, Ethernet can be the easier route for approval.
  • Your site has unstable or restricted WiFi
If your WiFi frequently disconnects, requires regular password changes, or uses guest networks that time out, a wired option may provide smoother connectivity.
  • Your building layout makes WiFi placement difficult
In some buildings, the ideal hub location for sensor coverage may not have reliable Wi-Fi but does have access to an Ethernet port.
  • You work in an environment with purposely limited Wi-Fi
Certain secure or industrial sites minimise Wi-Fi usage. A wired hub keeps things simple in these situations.

When the WiFi Hub Is Still the Best Option

Choose the standard WiFi Hub if you want:

  • Maximum flexibility in where the hub can be placed
  • Easy installation without needing an available data port
  • The ability to reposition the hub later as your monitoring needs change
